June was a period of getting back into the saddle when it comes to street photography (the photo directly above and below are the products of my first June photowalk, taken with my X100V). The first 5 months of the year had been sporadic and infrequent at best…

We flew directly from Calgary to Halifax on the redeye in late October. We were attending a wedding in Windsor, Nova Scotia on the weekend and decided to make the most of the travel time by planning a few days’ road trip afterwards.

It's been a fun end to summer - in the final few weeks I shot photos on trips to British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba...

Firstly, a change: I’ve been shooting street less as a daily exercise and more as a reward I treat myself to when I’m able. It’s certainly a deviation from 2020-2022 when I was going out nearly every day, but it hasn’t all been bad.

After two years of shooting a particular kind of street photography nearly everyday - allowing feeling and intuition to lead the way - I’ve had to take a step back to understand and articulate my own mostly-unconscious creative workings.
